I just put one of their songs on. I have their first album and their last album and wish to get the other two. Lovely Godsmack.

The older stuff is good but i never liked the newer stuff, it sounds too scraggly and the new songs don't have any rhythm.

Their second album was their best, followed by their first album. I like their newer stuff, but their older material was definately better.
But it's hard to find an exception to this rule. Almost everyone starts out better than they end up.

I agree.. I enjoy Godsmack after a long day at the office (and Mudvayne, etc). I think that, for some bands, as they get better technically they lose that creative edge they had in the early days. Some of them get it back but it's rare.

I love Godsmack, it was one of my first concerts ever too, at the great Red Rocks...and I really gained a lot of respect for them when I saw them the second time with Metallica when St Anger came out.
Godsmack came back for an encore and said that Metallica is not the greatest metal band ever, and we will now play a song from the greatest metal band ever and they busted out Pantera's Walk
also they totally showed up Metallica on stage ;D
