Christopher Moore does alot of great comedic horror books. You Suck and A Dirty JobMy mom got me one of his books about a year ago. So far I've read A Dirty Job and Lamb, and I absolutley loved them. I'll probably start on Coyote Blue soon.

So, I'm reading High Fidelity now. Anyone read it or seen the movie?!

I have not. How is it?!
Also, has anyone read the Harry Potter books?! My mother has read every sing page to my brother and me (we all love the books and this way we read it together) and we're just about to finish the last book.
To me, the books are incredibly ingenious and I hold them in very high regard. I'll be so sad when we're finished! ).;

It seems pretty good. I'm not really sure what I like about it, but I do so far.
I've never really tried to get into the Harry Potter books. First of all, their huge popularity compared to numerous other great books bothers me. Also, when I read the first book I think Harry spent like 20 pages buying a wand or something, so I quit after that because I just found it incredibly boring.

The Harry Potter books are more than worth reading. They get better and better and the final book is insanely incredible, even if a couple of chapters are tedious.

Poe was a crack addict. it seems like more of america should like him. i mean, that's like most of our current "entertainers"

As in, Edgar Allan?! He was a heavy drinker and pretty much drank himself to death, but I don't recall reading anything about him being a crack addict, and I just read a huge Poe biography a couple months ago.

and pot. alot of the poets from the 19th century were big into it. the guy who wrote The Ancient Mariner bought his pot, from the same person that Lord Byron did.

That's not really a big deal. Crack kind of is.

Pot's no biggy. But I think that writers should only publish works they do when they're clean. Otherwise, it's almost like cheating. Like taking steroids to enhance your performance.

What about artists?! I approve of musicians writing music while they're on stuff. I don't think it's like cheating. I mean, this stuff is already in your head, it's just like you can just finally see it clearly. And then you die because drugs are bad, kiddies.

I've sometimes wondered if the case was that drugs put thoughts into your head, or simply caused them to float to the surface. Honestly, much of my favorite music was written while the artists were stoned and I don't mind it in the case of music. I suppose when one has no mind-altering substances such as drugs, the product of their mind seems more pure, which is why I prefer stories and poems written without the utilization of drugs. Drawing, for some reason, I also don't mind if done on drugs. Actually, I think that's kind of cool.

I'm reading Lolita right now, after giving up on Anna Karenina.
